At the heart of the MyOwnRadar setup is a client-provided Pentium-class computer running Windows 2003, XP, or VISTA with at least 512 MB of memory. This is the computer that will run the MyOwnRadar executable and then upload the generated image files to a web server or write the files to a local hard drive. MyOwnRadar can be configured to send its images to both destinations if desired.

In order to create and upload the various images 24/7, the computer running the MyOwnRadar software must have a broadband Internet connection with both http and ftp access capabilities. MyOwnRadar will pull the raw data from our satellite-fed, high speed data servers via standard http protocol. It will then upload the rendered imagers to the client's web server using standard ftp protocol.

The Tech Support and Software Maintenance group at StormQuest requests remote access to the computer running the client's MyOwnRadar program in order to perform routine software maintenance, upgrades and enhancements, and to set internal parameters based on any given day's atmospheric conditions. Most of these procedures will be performed between midnight and 4 AM and during quiet weather conditions to ensure minimum impact on web visitors.
