Steve McCauley - Founder and
Owner of StormQuest Technologies, a private meteorological consulting
company specializing in forensic meteorology as well as weather-related
interactive web applications. Making its online debut in June
2005 with principal product offering, MyOwnRadar, StormQuest
has been in operation since March 2005. Steve is responsible for Web design and the
configuration, setup and installation of all MyOwnRadar applications.
With a B.S. degree in Atmospheric Science from Purdue University
and an M.S. degree in the same discipline from Texas Tech University,
Steve has always been intrigued by the complexity of the atmosphere
and the attempt to understand it and to predict its future state.
Having captained tornado chase operations at Texas Tech and
conducting storm intercept programs in the Texas Panhandle throughout
the 1990s, Steve continues to encourage the study of weather
- and in particular the investigation of severe local storms
- as an instructor at Richland College in Dallas, Texas.
He is also one of the meteorologists on staff at the ABC affiliate
in Dallas, WFAA-TV.
The principle motivation for the creation of StormQuest Technologies
was the recognition that most people have an inherent fascination
with the weather (which is why the weather segment consistly
ranks as the #1 reason people watch the local news), but
at the same time the complexity of the tools used to deliver
weather information and the images they generate can be intimidating
to many. Doppler weather radar, for example, is the best tool
available to monitor storms from a distance, but the information-rich
data can be highly confusing.
StormQuest attempts to take much of the difficulty out of
interpreting weather data and present it in a clearer yet scientifically
responsible manner. With clients in television and radio markets
and emergency management offices from Texas to Virginia, StormQuest is bringing the power of professional
storm tracking to the Home PC with meaningful imagery that anyone
can understand and use to better protect life and property.
Michael Gibson - Software Design
Engineer with two decades of experience writing PC applications
and operating system software. His primary specialty is graphics
and font technology from the API down to the driver level, and
he is the inventor / co-inventor in three patents related to
that work.
Michael brings his experience, talent and creativity to StormQuest
with innovative applications that engage the enduser in a highly
interactive web experience that serves a very practical purpose
with broad appeal: monitoring the approach and potential impact
of hazardous weather conditions from snow, sleet, and freezing
rain to hail, high winds and tornadoes.
Adam Wilburn - With a BS in Computer Science and Math from Texas A&M-Commerce,
Adam has been engaged in writing C++ code while maintaining an avid interest in computer graphics, especially
the use of high-end 3D modeling and animation tools, Softimage XSI, and Photoshop.
Adam has extensive experience in database management and is currently the Weather Producer for WFAA-TV in Dallas.
Utilizing Weather Central systems, Photoshop, and After Effects, Adam is responsible for the on-air content of the weekday weather
broadcasts for the 5, 6, and 10 PM newscasts. Adam brings his skills to the online graphics presentation for MyOwnRadar.
Meghan Danahey - Meghan has nearly a decade of diverse forecasting experience in television markets
ranging from Tornado Alley in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Hurricane Alley in Fort Myers, Florida. She is currently one of the meteorologists on staff at the ABC affiliate in Austin,
KVUE-TV.
Meghan is a native Texan with a passion for everything weather. From out in the field storm chasing to remaining in the office with long nights operating the Doppler radar,
Meghan is fascinated by the complex environments surrounding severe local storms. This is the main reason
Meghan made the trip back to Texas where she could once again focus on supercell thunderstorms, squall lines, severe hailstorms and tornadoes.
With her B.A. in English Literature from Texas A&M University, Meghan went on to complete her Masters in Meteorology from Mississippi State University. Meghan is
now involved with StormQuest and assists in data assimilation and formatting for MyOwnRadar.
